GESSA Budget May 2008 - April 2009

RTF DEADLINE FAST APPROACHING!!

The deadline for the spring cycle of the Research & Travel Fund (RTF) is this
Friday, April 11th.

Click on the Research and Travel Fund tab and download the
application, complete it in full and make sure to attach all
supporting documentation and receipts. Remember this cycle covers
activities undertaken between January 11th and April 10th, 2008. If
your activities will take place between April 11th and September 11th,
you should apply in the next cycle (deadline: Friday, September 12th).

Completed applications should be submitted to the Student and Alumni Resource
Centre (SARC) in HNES 129. Questions? Feel free to email Andrew
Walker, GESSA Research & Travel Fund Officer at rtf@gessa.ca.

on Tuesday November 13, in room 141 HNES building at 5:45 pm.

Among the agenda items:
- The election of a Chief Returning Officer who will manage the election of the
new GESSA Executive Committee.

- Updates from Internal and External FES Committees and Councils.

- Updates on “Greening the HNES Building’ initiative”.

FES Student Senator Position (Vacancy) - Call for Nominations

The Graduate Environmental Studies Students’ Association (GESSA) are currently seeking one energetic FES Graduate student (either MES or PhD) to become the new FES Student Senator on the York University Senate.

The prospective grad student will be required to serve as a FES Student Senator for a two-year period beginning the moment their
elected at the next GESSA General Meeting (November 13th, 2007) until their term ends June 30th, 2009. Therefore, the student needs to be committed to the position, be able to represent the needs of the entire FES community, and is flexible with their availability in relation to the Student Senator Caucus and York Senate meeting schedules. The two year period for the Student senator position is in reference with York Senate regulations. The next SSC meeting will be on Nov. 15, and York Senate is on Nov 22.

All nominees interested in filling this important vacancy - kindly submit your name, program, and a brief profile of yourself including
what makes you the ideal candidate by email to: gessa@gessa.ca.

Research and Travel Fund Application Extension

Dear 2nd –3rd year MES and PhD students,

GESSA has decided to extend the deadline for the September cycle for RTF applications. If you still have not applied for the fund or have some of your documents, and receipts missing and still wanted to submit your application you can still do so.

The deadline for submitting applications has now been extended till no later than October 12th, 2007.

Applications submitted should be returned to GESSA c/o FES Student and Alumni Resource Center (SARC) office no later than 16:30 / 4:30pm on October 12th, 2007.

Dear MESers and PhD students,

Welcome all new and returning students to FES. We hope the fall term is going well for all of you.

GESSA would like to invite you to our next General Meeting on Thursday, September 27th at 17:45/5:45 pm, now relocated to Room 141, HNES building.

This meeting is very important as it will require Graduate students to elect most of their representatives on many internal and external Committees and councils.

The full Agenda items can be viewed here at the GESSA AGENDA and MINUTES page, as well on the GESSA Bulletin Boards at the GESSA Office (136B HNES) and the MES Lounge (207 HNES).

Refreshments will also be provided during the GESSA General Meeting.
